Mjöllnir that's the name of Thor's hammer... Yep, Vikings loved to give names to objects and especially to weapons. And if you don't know Thor ? Let me introduce you to this tall, blond fellow. Marvel and their movies have really given gigantic popularity to Thor and his hammer Mjöllnir.  In Norse mythology Thor is the God of Thunder, like, he can create or stop storms on command... frankly the guy is badass.

According to Norse texts, Thor is the mightiest warrior, and that's also why he's one of the most revered Gods in Norse countries.  Sinon Thor is simply the son of Odin (the patron of the Aesir Gods) and Jörd an Earth goddess. With such parents, the little was bound to be a legend. And that's not all, as Thor is the son of Odin, he is therefore the rightful heir to the throne of Asgard.  If I tell you so much about Thor and not his hammer... it's because the two are indistinguishable... But there's a lot of stuff to say about the hammer anyway... so here we go:

The creation of Thor 's hammer: Mjöllnir

Loki, the God of Deception (the guy's super cunning) had played another trick on Thor... And it had made him a little angry. So anyway, Loki had gone to the dwarves to fix his mistake... and since he's such a joker our Loki, he took advantage of the opportunity to troll the dwarves. You know, our friends the dwarves have their little egos anyway. So Loki challenged them (by betting his head, yes, just that) that dwarves couldn't create precious weapons.

So inevitably...the dwarves only want one thing... To make a superbly crafted weaponSo, they set to work. But do you really think Loki, God of Deception, won't try something? And ba si ! The guy turns into a fly (yes, he's polymorphic) and he goes to annoy the dwarf who was forging Mjöllnir, Thor's hammer. The dwarf is confused, but continues to forge the hammer as best he can...

Finally ? Mjöllnir is born, but his shaft is a bit shorter than expected due to Loki's prank! And by the way, if you pay attention in the movies where there's Thor, you can see that the hammer's head is really disproportionate comparing to its handle... well that's where it comes from. Eventually, the dwarves take the hammer Mjöllnir back to Asgard where they offer it to Thor while declaring that the God of Thunder could hit anything without NEVER destroying this hammer. In short, the perfect weapon for a warrior god as powerful as Thor. Fascinating not true ? And still you saw nothing.

The flight from Mjöllnir to Thor

This story is how shall I put it... Special and funny at the same time... Thor was quietly tooting away with his hammer at his side... so far so good. But when he gets out of his nap and looks around... No hammer ! So he looks under his bed... in the toilet, and in the basket of dirty laundry... but nothing, unable to find Mjöllnir. Desperate he asks Loki and the goddess Freyja for help... both of them agree.

And they discover that it is the giant king Thrym (a slightly pissed off big guy) who brags about stealing Thor's hammer... But the giant is nice, he's willing to return the hammer. On one condition... That the goddess Freyja agrees to marry him.

Of course, Freyja refuses. And this is where it gets funny. To get his hammer Mjöllnir, Thor is going to dress up as a bride and Loki as a servant... So you might tell me they're going to get burned...especially Thor a big muscular man... Well no ! It goes creamy and we even invite them to the buffet. The sequel ? Thor takes his hammer back and takes the opportunity to kill the giant and his entire family... Rule #1: You don't mess with Thor and his hammer.

The Heirs of Mjöllnir

When the time of Ragnarök comes (it's the end of the world for the Vikings)... Thor will kill each other with the serpent-world Jörmungand. And after the chaos that will hit the 9 worlds... there will be a renewal. And that's when Thor's sons Modi and Magni will inherit their father's hammer... All of this is described in chapter 5 of the Gylfaginning. Now that you know all about the exciting history of Mjöllnir... you probably want to pick up a piece of Viking jewellery with Thor's famous hammer engraved on it... Well here I'm going to introduce you to 3 Mjöllnir models from our collection... so here we go.

The 3 Mjöllnir models

Mjöllnir is Thor's companion and he never lets go. We want it to be the same for you and the jewel you're going to choose. We want it to be able to accompany you everywhere and for you to be proud to wear it... so here I'm going to present you 3 models with Mjöllnir as a symbol.

The legendary Viking necklace - symbol of Thor - wolf Fenrir

A Viking necklace with a design that does not go unnoticed. With this model we have Thor's hammer as a pendant... and if you have a good eye, you will see that the pendant is held by two wolf heads. Well those heads belong to Fenrir, the raging wolf and, incidentally, the creation of Loki the God of Deceit. What's cool about this necklace? It's made of 316L stainless steel... What does that mean ? It means that the necklace is super-mega-tough... like, it won't rust or tarnish over time. Kind of like Thor's hammer in the end! Come on, I'll introduce you to two more necklaces:

The incredible Viking king necklace - symbol of Thor's power - symbol of the dragon

Clarity this necklace isn't for everyone... It's a statement piece and with it you're going to get noticed believe me... so you're going to have to assume you're going to have the looks on you! Here too you find the pendant with the symbol of Mjöllnir, this pendant is held by two dragon heads.  And by the way, it's still stainless steel... so it'll be able to go with you everywhere for a long time.  So what I love about this model too... is that it comes in a beautiful wooden box. Okay, this may seem secondary. But clearly, you look so classy when you pack your Viking king necklace in a box that looks goodNow, I'm going to quickly introduce you to one last model.

A classic, the Viking necklace - Thor's hammer - stainless steel

A necklace with a pendant featuring Mjöllnir. This necklace hasa modern, classy and minimalist design. You can also choose the length of the chain, it's pretty cool depending on your body type. And just like the previous necklace...it's made of stainless steel and comes directly to your home in a beautiful little wooden box.

To finish...

You got it... Mjöllnir is much more than a weapon of war for Thor, or he wouldn't have disguised himself as a woman to get it back. And we want the Viking necklace you're ordering today to be an invaluable companion as well.
